Unlikely Pair

Happy Monday all. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. If you ask me it came & went too soon. But that’s every weekend…. but anywho…….

Friday, my girlfriend Lawanda must have been peaking in my window. We both showed up to work with red jeans on. She paired hers with a teal blue shirt & I wore a multi printed shirt with pinks, oranges
and hints of green. Again showing you can go many routes with red.

Lawanda & I have very different style approaches. We are definately an unlikely pair of friends (let everyone else tell it). We met about 3 years ago & have been inseparable every since. We have so much fun together & she always has my back in every situation & I  keep her balanced because she is all over the place (scatter brains I call her) but I luv her so much…….She tends to sport girly laid back looks with flats or wedges( her fave) I on the other hand don’t even feel right when I don’t have a heel on. I’m used to wearing them on a daily basis… As a matter of fact I only own 1 pair of flats. But as the summer months approach I do want to start looking for some really cute flat sandals & comfy wedges. We will be attending the essence festival in July & I know there will be a ton of walking for those few days. So if anyone comes across oh so cute flats & wedges. Send pics.

Tiffany Blue Blazer

image

Good morning glammy gals…… We have almost made it through the work week, hurry up Friday……

Today I decided to wear my Tiffany blue blazer with all black. I love blazers so much. They are a really good transitional piece when losing weight. The blazer I’m wearing is about 4 sizes bigger than the actual size I buy for myself, but how its made, plays a big part. It’s a shantung silk, free flowing blazer that has a mid sleeve so I was able to pull off the oversized look. I’ve also worn it belted in the past which gave it more shape & cinched my waist.  When in between sizes or losing weight the thrift store and consignment shops  are a great place to shop. I know a lot of people turn their nose up at the thrift and used clothes period. But its a great solution to not overspend on clothing that you may not be in for long. I used to make a face when someone said they got something from the shift. But all I can say is don’t knock it until you try it. I’m obsessed…..

Simplicity

Today I opted to keep it quite simple. Blue on blue with a leopard wedge that I love by the way. They are super comfy even though for some reason I seem to always twist my foot over in these & lose my balance. But still love em. I’m also carrying my clutch that I got for my birthday from my good friend Carlita. I love the fact that it has a  mirror on the inside so I can touch up my makeup & make sure I’m on point.

Cap Toe Shoes

For some time now the cap toe shoe has been on trend. There are so many different styles to choose from. Even many designer brands. These will be a huge staple in your summer wardrobe and carry you into fall. I’m feeling this trend because these shoes almost act as an accessory by itself with the great cap detailing…..

You can purchase this style shoe just about anywhere right now, with all price points…

A touch of sunshine

Good Morning Glammy Gals. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I sure did. I free styled my whole weekend and just went with the flow. I love being spontaneous. It feels good to not have a plan and just do whatever it is that you want to do.

But back on the grind today it’s Monday. It’s a bit chilly in sunny Florida this morning. But the sun is shining bright, so I thought why not add a touch of yellow today.

Sticks & Stones May Break My Bones, But Words Will Never Hurt Me- NOT……..

Last night I got a call from one of my readers that literally broke my heart.she had got all glammed up to go to an event. Makeup on point & a banging outfit. As she entered the venue, she spotted a guy that she hadn’t seen in years. He began to approach her because she did look familiar, but somewhat different. Before they could exchange words, a family member of my reader interjected & said ” yes that’s ……….. she’s just fat as hell now” then began to laugh. She was so embarrassed & her spirit was broken. She immediately left after that. I can totally relate to this. Even when you do have a great outlook on who you are and feel good about yourself, words like that make you want to crawl under a table and hide. We all have insecurities and areas that we feel need improvement. But to be called out like that in a room full of people by a family member is just plain ole ignorance. Some people should be more considerate of other people’s feelings. She said she felt like a child in that moment being picked on by a bully. I immediately began to tear up. It brought back memories of my childhood and all of the fat jokes and comments that were made in reference to me being fat.

To my reader please know that you are glammy first and foremost. You are witty, smart and uniquely and beautifully made. Always hold your head up and if ever faced with this again. STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Confidence at any size is key and I know you got it…………
Much love,

Buy now…..Save for later

Have you ever bought something that you couldn’t fit into?  But say I’m going to lose weight to get into this. (Raises hand) that would be me. I have always bought clothes in hope of one day getting into them.Throughout the year I have over stuffed my closet with future prospects.
That can work for or against you. Against you because if you  aren’t truly motivated it will be money wasted, because it will sit in your closet and get flicked by everyday when looking for something to wear. Never making the cut.
But it can work for you if you keep focus and work towards one day fitting into that piece of clothing.

The short sleeve sweater I’m wearing was purchased atleast 7 years ago. Neglected for about 5. But I was not willing to part with it. I had a plan in mind, I executed it and I’m wearing it.

It’s not the size; It’s fit

I don’t know why we as women get so caught up in size and when we have to veer away from the usual size that we wear and its such a hard thing to do.Well let me rephrase that. When we have to get a size bigger it’s a problem.I’m not judging because I was in that number also. But I came to the realization that it’s not size, it’s fit. No one will know what the tag says on the inside of your shirt, dress or pants. If they do happen to catch a glimpse- so what………what matters is if it fits well and looks good.

Have any of you felt some kind of way when you had to make a purchase in a size larger than what you normally wear?

Have a Glammy Good Day……….

Grateful for the small things

I got a slow start this morning & it took everything in me to get out of the bed this morning. On top of that my iron decided to stop working. So I pulled out the trusty wrinkle resistant clothes today. I love these wrinkle free pants from Ann Taylor because they really do what they claim. I don’t get the creases from sitting down and they are soft to touch and of good quality. So sometimes it is the small things that you have to appreciate. If I allowed it, my morning could have gone all wrong from one mis hap. It’s important for us not to put so much focus on the small negative things. I’m a true believer in what you focus on expands. So let’s put all of our energy into positive productive things and it we will welcome more of that into our lives.
